REVIEW: |
This concert happened
the day after the one previously reviewed here with this line-up: Ron Wood on guitar
and vocals, Bo Diddley on guitar, vocals and drums, Jim Satten
on guitar, Debbie Hastings on bass and backing
vocals, Mike Fink on drums, Hal Goldstein on keyboards, backing vocals and
harmonica; it must be said that there is an unmentioned
sax player that can clearly be heard on Little Red Rooster, Too Late and Honky
Tonk Women, might have been Bobby Keys.
Like for the previous show there were two versions coming of the same recording
but in different quality. The first version used had all tracks edited in the
correct order and was in lossless format: so it was a great improvement
compared to the previously circulating version!
Note that the beginning of Crackin Up, a segment of I m A Man (2’45) and the
end of Black Limousine are still missing!
Some tracks were cut in two parts, so the songs had too be rebuilt and gaps reworked
to increase listening pleasure. Thanks to the proximity to the previous concert
there is one new song played here Bo Diddley s A Gunslinger, from the huge
catalogue of Mr. McDaniels. The recording is not that great, partly due to the
audience continuous screams but also due to consistent lack of high
frequencies, however the work done allows to listen to this performance without
many headaches
